Hello! I'm Ian Edwards. I started my career in finance at one of the largest financial institutions BNY Mellon working with data analytics and large databases. I received an opportunity to work at Carta, a leading Fintech startup specializing in cap table software. I jumped at the opportunity to help young businesses and learn the venture capital space. Along the way I was exposed to the process of building and deploying software. While at Carta I was able to participate in a teamwide project to implement a financial model from excel to software deployment. It was incredibly exciting and a memory I would cherish in my career forever.
Soon after I continued my career in business consulting, joining Moss Adams. Then COVID19 hit and my family had difficulty obtaining work in Seattle, WA. This forced a relocation to Texas. While in Texas, I worked at one of the largest financial data providers, IHS Markit (now merged with S&P Global). There I was responsible for developing scalable excel models, acquiring data from internal software products, and speaking with high value clients. I could never quite shake the memory and passion I felt while assisting in the deployment of new software at Carta. I determined that I had to retrain myself and follow my passion for software engineering. I joined App Academy in November 2021.
I finished App Academy in May 2022. I received training in Javascript, Python, Express.js, SQLAlchemy, and many more software packages. But I am most proud of completing a group project Quickstater and a solo project NuMed. I have found my calling in building software. Capable of frontend engineering HTML, CSS, and Javascript by building dynamic webpages in a React/Redux framework while also using both Javascript and Python to build RESTful APIs as the backends of my projects. I am excited to see where being a software engineer takes me and the knowledge I will acquire along the way. But most importantly, I am exited to have the knowledge and the capability of assisting in solving complex business and software problems.
My PortfolioAs a Javascript developer, I have experience in HTML5 and CSS3 techniques working with more advanced Javascript frameworks such as React
Utilising Python frameworks such as Flask, I've written services supporting various of users, including REST APIs, e-learning applications and more.
As well as providing development services, I can also work within a team to deliver larger projects goals.
